The Performance Group Wins Spirit of Small Business Award.
Michael Fitzgerald's Performance Group has been award the honorable "Spirit of Small Business" Award for the West Ventura County Company of the Year. The Business Times and the Los Angeles District Office of U.S. Small Business Administration conceived the Spirit of Small Business to recognize the accomplishments of small businesses. The Performance Group was chosen based on demonstration of sustainable enterprise (especially overcoming hardship or other obstacles), industry leadership and community awareness. The Pacific Coast Business Times will publish the fourth annual Spirit of Small Business special section and host a special awards luncheon at the Fess Parker's Double Tree Resort in Mid-August 2006. The commitee that selected the winners were Bill Watkins, director of UCSB Economic Forecast Project, Alberto Alvarado, director, Los Angeles District Office and Henry Dubroff, the owner and Publisher of the Pacific Coast Business Times.

Classes were conducted to help these student during the interview process in either obtaining jobs or starting their own businesses. It is all about how you treat and engage people. The Performance Group'sPeter Godinez was appointed as a Executive Board Member of the California Coast Venture Forum (CCVF). The CCVF is a non-profit organization whose mission has been to mentor, advise and promote growing companies in markets in California. Launched in 1996 by a group of Santa Barbara executives, the CCVF is now in its 10th year of operations. They select companies with sound business plans and help them in thier search for funding to grow through education, training and asssitance with venture capital acquistion. For many years CCVF has focused on a technology corridor, encompassing the counties of San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura and northern Los Angeles.
Principal of the Day - Foothill Technology High School
The Performance Group made its 3rd visitation to the Ventura Chamber of Commerce's "Principal of the Day" at the benchmark Foothill Technology High School. Principal Joe Bovas (shown above with ASB president) and staff provided a hospitable welcome to Peter Godinez, office technology consultant to The Performance Group.
The Performance Group attended this California State University Channel Islands Connection Luncheon. University President, Richard Rush spoke the the audience of the progress that CSUCI is making in our community in the area of Academic programs, Construction projects, STudent recruitment and the development of an athletic department at the university. Presently the University has 2,600 enrolled student with it 1st graduating class scheduled for 2007. Dr. Terry Ballman, chair of the Academic Senate at the university also spoke. Twenty-two present students attended the event. Other business leaders in attendance were women of the year Pat Richards, man of the year David Press, entrepreneur of the year Keith Grim and the honorable Camarillo Mayor Stan Daily.
Ventura Poinsettia Awards The Ventura Chamber of Commerce sponsor the Annual Poinsettia Community Awards in the Month of December 2005. Some of the awards presented were small, medium, and large business of the year, police officer of the year, male & female student of the year. The Performance Group was nominated for the medium sized business of the year, but the award went to Sheeler Movers and Storage company. The Performance Group had the opportunity to attend and enjoy the California State University Channel Islands Busines & Technology Partnership's Third Annual Holiday Mixer. Brian Farrell, CEO of THQ http://www.thq.com spoke on "Bridging the Gap: Education & The Business of Video Games". Brian spoke on video gaming history and future. He also showed a presentation created by Monica Vallejo (THQ) that interviewed some of the creative staff at THQ showing their daily activities and responsibilities. Notable business leaders and celebrities were in attendance. In attendance were Dr. Richard Rush, President of CSUCI, Keith Gunther, performance technology consultant, MC Pauline Malysko, president of Logix, Tania Garcia, Community , Government, Alumni Relations Assistant Office of Advancement (also semi pro hockey player), Henry Dubroff, owner and editor of the Pacific Coast Business Times, and Kurtis Gunther, future volleyball superstar. The Segue Program - Empowering Students to Explore, Find and Act on Their Lives Path. Ventura High School.
The Performance Group is investing in the future of our youth by spending time talking with students about career. The Segue Program provides students some food for thought on what they might possible do when they graduate from high school and tackle higher education and training. The Segue Programs are available at Ventura High School and Hueneme High School. Peter Godinez spoke to the students about sales and marketing, but encouraged all students that selling was a form of treating people with care and respect with the most appropriate words and behavior.

The Performance Group attended an great opportunity to meet some of the Candidates that the Ventura Chamber of Commerce are endorsing for the race for Ventura City Council and Ventura School Board. The endorsed candidates for City Council in attendance were Brian Brennan, Neal Andrews, Jim Monahan and Ed Summers. On September 12, 2005, The Performance Group Sponsored the California Counties Chapters 9th Annual Golf Scholarship Fund Raiser at the beautiful Spanish Hills Golf and County Club. The CalCPA main function is to provide a local forum at which CPAs can meet together to discuss issues and common topics. KEYT Santa Barbara Television Advertisement The Performance Group ran a series of commericals on the very popular KEYT television station in Santa Barbara channel 3 on prime time spot when targeted marketed are watching the local news. Television spot were at the 6:00 am morning news and at 6:00 pm event news. The TV spots feature customer testimonials from Tobin and Wiker (Kevin Dickman) and Affinity Bank (David Grant). Michael Fitzgerald opens the commerical and closes it with a shot of the Hewlett-Packard 4345 Multifunction Product.
Pacific Coast Business Times "101 One Hundred" Event
The Performance Group sponsored the Pacific Coast Business Times http://www.pacbiztimes.com to honor the top 100 Companies along the corridor of the 101 freeway for our regional counties. Some of the top companies. Carl Karcher Enterprises (Carl's Jr.), Amgen, Jordano's and several privately held companies were honered. The event was covered by a 3 minute television feature on the KEYT News at 11:00 PM where Peter Godinez was quoted as saying that the event was "as exciting as the academy awards". Our Hewlett-Packard Business Partner Manager Hope Ganon and Marketing Manager Gail Richley were in attendance.
The Performance Group took part in the Annual Ventura Chamber of Commerce "Principal for a Day" Event where top Business Leaders from the area acted as principals for a day. The Performance Group sent their Technology Office Consultant, Peter Godinez to the infamous Ventura High School who was graciously welcomed by Larry Emrick, Principal. Peter was able to meet many of the administrators, teachers, counselor, students and parents from Ventura High School. The mayor of Ventura, Brian Brennan was on hand with Peter to welcome hundreds of pre-school aged children for the Annual Reading Festival. It was a profitable event for all involved and The Performance Group was there.
